alberta opening its own market — what does it mean for the rest of us?

    Keep hearing rumblings that Alberta's building its own regulated online market, something like what Ontario did. If that actually happens, does it push the other provinces to get moving too?

    Saskatchewan is watching too, I'd bet. Right now here it's the provincial site or offshore, and that's it. More regulated options with actual player protections would be a nice change.

    Ontario's market has its headaches, but at least there's somebody to complain to when things go sideways. If Alberta copies the good parts and skips the growing pains, good for them.

    And the tax angle, lol. Governments smell the revenue, that's what's really driving this. Doubt the average player sees much benefit from that part.
